Those who claimed to be JP’s disciple abandoned his ideology: Amit Shah in Bihar

Saran (Bihar) [India]October 11 (ANI): Attacking the ruling coalition in Bihar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that those who claim to be the disciples of Jayaprakash Narayan have abandoned the ideology of the socialist leader.

Shah attended the 120th birth anniversary celebrations of the famous socialist leader popularly known as JP at his birthplace in Saran district.

Addressing a public meeting here, the Union Home Minister said that Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan spent his entire life for the welfare of the landless, poor, downtrodden and backward people.

Jayaprakash Narayan’s biggest contribution was when he started a massive movement against corruption and against a government intoxicated in power that had imposed Emergency in the seventies. In 1973, under Indiraji’s leadership, Gujarat had a Congress government with Chimanbhai Patel as the CM. Indira ji publicly gave the task of collecting money to the governments, corruption started. Students protested in Gujarat and this movement was led by JP. It changed the government in Gujarat,” he said.

After this he started a movement in Bihar. Seeing this movement, Indira Gandhi, who held a rally at Gandhi Maidan in Bihar, got upset. The PM of the country was forced to impose emergency in the country and put Jayaprakash Narayan in jail,” said Shah

He said that the steps of Indira Gandhi could not stop Jayaprakash Narayan.

“When the Emergency was lifted, JP united the entire opposition and worked towards forming the first non-Congress government in the country. Those who claim to be disciples of Jayaprakash Narayan have abandoned his ideology,” the Union minister said.

Shah said that the Modi government at the Center is working for the welfare of the poor.

Sitab Diara is the ancestral village of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, located on the UP-Bihar border.

This is Shah’s second visit to Bihar in the last three weeks. Shah had addressed a ‘Jan Bhavna Mahasabha’ and presided over a meeting of the BJP State Core Committee on 23-24 September during his two-day visit to Bihar’s bordering Purnia and Kishanganj areas.

In August this year, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar severed his ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and again joined hands with the RJD to form the government in the state. The Congress is also a part of the coalition government. (ANI)
