Three persons were killed and three others were injured when the tractor they were traveling in was electrocuted after the Ganpati idol immersion at B Hosalli in Mudigere taluk on Tuesday night. During the procession, the arched pavilion meant to keep the idol on the vehicle came in contact with a live electric wire, causing the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Rachna (22), Parvati (28) and Raju (50), residents of Hosalli.
The reason for the accident is not being aware of the negligence of the driver.
Sangeeta, 18, Pallavi, 13 and Gauri suffered injuries in the incident.
Chikkamagaluru SP Uma Prashanth said two people seriously injured have been shifted to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences and another is undergoing treatment at Mudigere.
