Three more students test positive for hepatitis in Rajasthan’s Kota

Hepatitis A has been confirmed in three more students of a coaching institute in Jawahar Nagar area here, taking the number of people affected by the disease to 44.

Meanwhile, the Kota district administration submitted a report to the Chief Minister’s Office about such cases, three days after a NEET aspirants died of infection during treatment.

Kota District Collector OP Bunker has asked the management of coaching institutes and hostels where contaminated water has been found, to use RO water.

During a survey, students of only one coaching institute in Jawahar Nagar were found to be affected. Deputy CMHO Ghanshyam Meena said that during interrogation it was found that water is being supplied from tankers.

He said that the water collected was found to be contaminated. The official said that the students told that they used to drink the same water in the coaching center and also used to take water bottles to the hostel.

ADM Brijmohan Bairwa said that as per the preliminary report of the CMHO, contaminated water was the likely reason behind the infection.

He said that the district collector has written a letter to the director of the coaching institute as well as the hostel managers asking them to get the water sample tested and used after treating it through RO process.

When asked what action can be taken in the matter, Kota District Collector OP Bunker said that the investigation in the matter is still on.
