Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India]June 2 (ANI): Three units of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), over 50 fire services with full equipment have rushed to Odisha’s Balasore, where a passenger train collided with derailed coaches of another train. , injuring more than 130 people.

Taking cognizance of the train accident in Odisha, state Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that rescue operations are underway.

“An unfortunate train accident has happened in Balasore district. As a result, some bogies of Coromandel Express derailed and some damage to bogies has been reported. District Magistrate, Inspector General of Balasore range, SP Balasore has already reached the spot along with other senior officials of the district administration.

He said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed all the officers to coordinate and cooperate in the entire relief and rescue operations.

The Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express collided with the derailed coaches of another train going from Bengaluru to Kolkata on Friday evening.

The first 22-member NDRF team from Balasore Railway Station (BLS) has already reached the spot. Another 32-member Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) team started half an hour earlier, officials said. (ANI)
