Coimbatore: Three Notorious thieves was arrested by suluru Police near Coimbatore on Friday. The police have recovered stolen gold jewelery and Rs 1.03 lakh in cash from the trio.
The arrested people have been identified as M Marudhachalam, 36, and M Satheesh Kumar, 37, residents of Sulur, and S Natarajan alias Natturan, 51, residents of Keeranatham.
Police said Marudhachalam worked in a grocery store and Sathish Kumar was a welder. Natarajan is a labourer.
A series of thefts were reported in the house in and around Sulur, and a special team led by Sulur Police Inspector R Mathayan was formed to nab the thieves. The police team arrested all three on Friday.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Natarajan was facing cases of theft in Kancheepuram, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Changalpet, Chennai and Tuticorin districts.
“Natarajan has been involved in theft cases for more than two decades. He was involved in around 80 thefts in the state. Marudhachalam was facing two cases, and Sathish Kumar was facing five cases, including theft, dacoity and ganja cases in Coimbatore district. They met Natjaran in prison and became close friends. After coming out of the jails, the three were involved in nine house breakings during the night at Sulur, Chettipalayam, Saravanampatti in Coimbatore district and Palladam in Tiruppur district,” Inspector Mathayan said.
He has been sent to judicial custody.
