‘Till wear a mask…’: What the Maha CM said after lifting the Kovid mandate

Mumbai The Maharashtra government has lifted the COVID-19 restrictions in the state two days back, bringing down the number of cases of the deadly virus in the state.

However, on Saturday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that people should be careful and wear Mask As long as he and his deputy Ajit Pawar will continue to wear them.

Speaking at the inauguration of new metro rail lines in the city, the Chief Minister said that although masks are no longer mandatory, we cannot let down our guard.

Thackeray on Saturday inaugurated Metro Lines 7 and 2A, which will cater to the needs of Andheri and other western suburbs to its north.

He said, “I noticed that most of the people were not wearing masks. The only two people who continued to wear masks since the day of the outbreak of coronavirus in the state were me and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.”

“As long as there are two of us wearing masks, I would urge people to continue covering their faces. Masks`Power‘(The compulsion) has been eased, but we have not yet reached the point of ‘mask’.Freedom‘ (liberation from the mask),” the chief minister said.

Thackeray said that precautionary measures will prevent the threat of the next wave of the pandemic.

Inauguration of new metro lines

On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday flagged off two metro lines – Metro 2A and Metro 7 in Mumbai.

Trains on Navi Mumbai Metro The line will work between Aarey and Dhanukarwadi.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, state cabinet ministers Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde were also present on the occasion.

Though BJP boycotted today Metro The Maharashtra government did not invite BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis as the inaugural function.

This step taken by the Maharashtra government is significant as elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are to be held this year.
