Tired of potato chips? Try These Delicious Yam Chips Instead

When we think of chips, the first recipe that people like is potato chips. But it’s no secret that potato chips aren’t the healthiest food on any menu. What if we told you that you can swap out your potatoes for a healthier alternative that’s equally delicious. We are talking about Yum Chips. Yams are a tuberous vegetable that is rich in nutrients and is also an excellent source of fiber, potassium and manganese. Now, Chef Saransh Goila shares a recipe to make a delicious bowl of yam chips in minutes from the comfort of your home. The chef named the dish “Purple Yam Chips”, referring to the purple color the vegetable gives.

Here’s what you need to make Yam Chips:

  1. Peeled yam – 2
  2. Salt
  3. spice mix of your choice
  4. Oil

Follow these steps to make Crispy Chips:

  1. Peel and chop the yams. Chefs recommend using a mandoline slicer.
  2. Soak the yam pieces in lightly salted water for 10 minutes.
  3. Dry the yam slices and sprinkle salt on them
  4. Deep fry the slices in oil till crispy – for about 7-8 minutes
  5. Top the chips with the spice mix of your choice to add a touch of spice.
