Tiruchi City Police has traced 16 of the 20 missing people this month and handed them over to their family members. Special police teams have been formed to trace the whereabouts of the remaining persons.
In one such instance, the police traced a woman who had left her home in Puthur with her two children due to family problems. In another case, the police traced two missing children from their home in Ariyamangalam area within 24 hours and handed them over to their mother, the complainant. , A police press release said Police Commissioner G Karthikeyan commended the police personnel for swift action on the complaints. Another release said that the city police on Saturday held awareness meetings with traders and general public on crime prevention. The meeting was presided over by the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the range concerned. The police appealed to the people to work with them in preventing crimes. Such awareness meetings will be held regularly, the release said.
