The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday appointed Kirti Azad as the new in-charge of its Goa unit. Cricketer-turned-politician Azad had switched from Congress to TMC last year. He was earlier a BJP MP from Bihar.
Azad replaced TMC MP Mahua Moitra who was in charge of the Goa unit. The party said in a statement that the appointment will come into force with immediate effect.
Ahead of the assembly elections in the coastal state earlier this year, the TMC inducted several senior Congress leaders but found a blank.
