Actor Dilip Joshi, who played Dayaben’s onscreen husband Jethalal on TMKOC, opened up about Disha Vakani’s return.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans were completely heartbroken when the makers officially announced that Disha Vakani aka Dayaben has quit. Since then many have been waiting for the return of their favorite character.
During a recent interaction with ETimes, actor Dilip Joshi, who plays Dayaben’s onscreen husband Jethalal, candidly answered whether his reel wife would ever come back. The conversation took place to introduce the new face of Tipendra Gada aka Tapu, which will be played by Nitish Bhaluni.
When asked if Dayaben’s character would ever make a comeback, Joshi claimed that it completely depends on the makers. According to him, it is his decision whether he wants to cast a new actor to play the fan-favourite role. But as an actor, Joshi misses his onscreen wife. He highlighted that he enjoyed enacting the scenes with Dayaben. “Since long you all have enjoyed the good and funny scenes of Daya and Jetha. Ever since Disha has passed away, that part, that angle, the funny part is missing. The chemistry between Daya and Jetha is missing.
Dilip Joshi revealed that not only does he miss Daya and Jetha together but many fans share the same sentiment with him. Currently, he is staying positive as he is praying for something interesting to happen. Onscreen ‘Garba Queen’ actress Disha Vakani played the role of Dayaben for a decade before taking maternity leave in 2017. After which she did not return. After leaving Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Disha Vakani now keeps a low profile and has not appeared in any other television show.
