With a year-on-year growth of 18%, Maruti Suzuki Baleno tops the charts as it registered sales of 18,418 units last month as against 15,646 units sold in the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Alto secured the second and third positions in the list with sales of 8,398 units and 14,388 units respectively. The Wagon R registered a growth of 91% year-on-year in August 2022, while the Alto saw a 9% year-on-year growth.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Swift took the fourth and fifth positions, registering sales of 11,868 units and 11,275 units respectively in August 2022. The DZire saw a year-on-year growth of 108 per cent, while the Maruti Suzuki Swift reported a sales decline of 10 per cent.
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS stood at the sixth position with sales of 9,274 units in August 2022. The hatchback witnessed a year-on-year growth of 16% as compared to 8,023 units in August 2021.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso secured the seventh position, while the Hyundai i20 secured the eighth position with sales of 7,774 units and 7,558 units in August 2022. The S-Presso registered 8% YoY growth, while the Hyundai i20 registered only 3% YoY growth.
The Tata Tiago hatchback and Maruti Suzuki Celerio have secured the ninth and tenth positions. The former reported sales of 7,209 units and the latter sold 5,852 units in August 2022.
