The mid-size SUV space is blooming like a mushroom in the rain. With the entry of new products in this segment and increasing affinity of buyers towards SUVs, the sales of mid-sized SUVs have witnessed an increase. Recently, Mahindra Scorpio-N and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have entered the segment, and they have a long waiting period. While the latter garnered over 50,000 pre-orders ahead of launch, it is also the most fuel-efficient SUV in the country. But which one made a great entry in the sales figures for the month of September this year? Well, here is the list of top 5 best selling mid-SUVs in the country.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta is managing to post big figures on the sales chart. Last month, the SUV registered sales of 12,866 units, registering a year-on-year growth of 52 per cent. The SUV is currently on sale with multiple engine-gearbox combinations and a variety of variants to meet the requirements of all.


Kia Seltos

Hyundai Creta’s mechanical sibling – Kia Seltos, follows in its footsteps with a sales figure of 11,000 units in September this year. The SUV registered a year-on-year growth of 15 per cent showing consistent performance on monthly sales.

Recently launched in two variants – Mahindra Scorpio Classic and Mahindra Scorpio-N, the SUV posted sales of 9,536 units for the month of September registering a growth of 268 per cent. The Scorpio is the only ladder-frame SUV on this list.

Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra XUV700 is enjoying a strong buzz in the Indian market with high waiting period. Available with two engine options and two gearbox options, the XUV700 recorded sales of 6,063 units last month, resulting in a year-on-year growth of 343 per cent.


Though it is the newest entrant into the Indian market from Maruti Suzuki, Grand Vitara registered sales of 4,769 units, which is higher than most of its rivals, namely MG Astor, MG Hector, Skoda Kushak, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier, And even its rebadged-version – the Toyota Urban Cruiser Haider.
