The Indian automotive industry has seen several new car launches and some big unveilings in the first half of this year, but there is certainly no slowing down. The month of August will be crucial for the Indian automobile industry, as many cars and SUVs will either be launched or at least unveiled ahead of the launch in the coming months.
We have listed down the top five upcoming cars and SUVs that are ready to be launched in India.
1. Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai India recently unveiled the all-new Tucson SUV in the Indian market. Customers looking to get their hands on the SUV can book the new Tucson online or at the official website Hyundai dealership by paying a token amount of Rs.50,000. With over 7 million units sold across the world, the new Tucson is expected to attract a lot of interest from the Indian buyers as well.
The new generation Tucson is based on the company’s Sensuous Sportiness design language and features a complete design overhaul over its changed model. Up front, the SUV gets a large grille that extends across the nose of the car, and also gets triangular LED DRLs. At the rear, the T-shaped taillights are connected by an LED strip, with the Hyundai emblem placed on the lower part of the rear windshield.
The new Tucson’s feature list includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bose premium sound system, BlueLink connected-car tech with 60+ connected features, multiple language UI support, rear recline seats, 64 color ambient lighting, home-to-car Are included. With Alexa and Google voice assistants, powered tailgate, wireless phone charger, driver power seat memory function, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, and more.
The Hyundai Tucson is powered by 2.0-litre diesel and 2.0-litre NA petrol engines. The first churns out 186 bhp of maximum power and 417 Nm of peak torque, while the petrol engine is rated at 156 PS/192 Nm. While the diesel engine is offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard, the petrol mill only gets a 6-speed AT. Hyundai is also offering the Tucson with its HTRAC all-wheel drive configuration.
The new Tucson is 150mm longer, 15mm wider, 5mm longer, and has an 85mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Hyundai claims that the NX4 model selected for India is the longer wheelbase variant of the Tucson.
5 Electric Mahindra SUV
Mahindra recently released a new teaser that shows five of its upcoming electric SUVs. The company also revealed that five electric SUVs will be unveiled on Independence Day.

The teaser reveals the silhouettes of five models, four of which appear to be coupe-SUVs. Looking at the silhouette of the previous image, one can guess that it looks like the XUV700.
These new EVs from Mahindra are scheduled to be unveiled on August 15 in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, followed by the expected unveiling of the XUV400 in September 2022. India’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki recently announced the new generation Alto on 18th August.
The updated car was recently spied during a TVC shoot, which revealed a series of cosmetic updates on the current-gen model. As per the spy shots, the new Alto has grown in size, being taller than the model it is set to replace. The new-gen version of the hatchback also gets a redesigned rear end with restyled tail lamps that look similar to the ones seen on the 2022 Celerio.
Powering the Alto will likely be the same 796 cc three-cylinder NA petrol engine, but it may feature some customization and calibration upgrades. Maruti Suzuki may reintroduce the Alto K10 moniker with a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that performs duties on the recently launched 2022 S-Presso. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard while an optional automatic transmission could also be included. It will likely be the same AGS (AMT) unit that was used on the Celerio.

The SUV gets 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, hybrid badge on the front doors, body cladding with skid plates and wraparound LED tail lamps.
The interiors are equipped with Toyota i-Connect 55+ features, smartwatch connectivity, 9-inch SmartPlay Cast infotainment system, voice control, remote A/C on and off, remote vehicle recognition and vehicle health. Apart from this, the Hyryder SUV cabin also gets dual-tone finish on the dashboard, wireless charging, a HUD and a panoramic sunroof.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hider will be available in two powertrain options – Neo Drive and a self-charging robust hybrid electric powertrain that will use a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 105 hp and 122 Nm along with 59 kW and 141 Nm of motor. , The combined power output would be 85 kW (114 hp). The Neo Drive engine gets an all-wheel-drive system, optional 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission to choose from.
We expect Toyota to start the Hyder price at Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the SUV competes with the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushak, MG Astor and Mahindra Scorpio-N.

Mercedes-Benz India recently confirmed that the EQS electric sedan will be launched in the country on August 24. It has also been confirmed that EQS’s performance-oriented amg The variant, i.e. EQS 53 4MATIC+ will make its debut first, after which the standard EQS can be launched.
