Here are the important developments in Kerala to watch for today:

1. The fishermen and their families will cordon off the Vizhinjam port construction site in Thiruvananthapuram today and demand an effective rehabilitation package for the families displaced by the alleged accelerated coastal erosion due to the project.

2. The Kerala High Court is likely to hear a petition by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) challenging the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate and seeking to restrain the probe agency from taking any action against it. The petition fears that the present investigation initiated by the ED in KIIFB cases was “part of an organized smear campaign created by vested political interests to defame the machinery of the State Government”.

3. Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a CPI(M) worker in Palakkad on Sunday night. The BJP maintains that the killing was a result of collective rivalry within the CPI(M). It has condemned and distanced itself from the incident.

4. The remand prisoner, who escaped from the Government Mental Health Centre, Kozhikode, was caught by the locals from the shrine in Karnataka when he was trying to steal a vehicle. He will be handed over to Kozhikode police today.
