Here are the important developments in Kerala to watch for today:

  1. The ritual of Vidyarambham will be held today in various temples and cultural centers across Kerala to mark the initiation of children into the world of letters.

  2. Shashi Tharoor will campaign for votes in the AICC presidential election. He will contact KPCC members today.

  3. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in Norway on the first leg of his European visit. He is scheduled to hold discussions with the Norwegian Fisheries Minister today. He is accompanied by ministers P. Rajeev and V. Abdurehiman. The delegation is also scheduled to interact with representatives of trade promotion organizations in Norway.

  4. The tiger that spread panic in Munnar finally fell into the trap laid by the forest department in the early hours of today. Over 100 forest personnel were on the lookout for the tiger after it killed or injured more than 10 cows in the past few days.

  5. The Indian Union Muslim League Kerala State Council will meet in Kozhikode today to approve the proposed amendments to the party constitution. A five-member disciplinary committee and a 21-member state secretariat would be constituted and the tenure of the party committees would be four years. The party’s stand on the ban imposed on Popular Front of India is also likely to be discussed in the meeting.

  6. Local Self-Government Minister MB Rajesh will present the award in memory of late journalist N Rajesh to author and investigative journalist Josie Joseph in Kozhikode today.

  7. Clashes between migrant workers ended in the killing of an Assam native at Koilandi in Kozhikode district. Police have beefed up security in the beach area where a 26-year-old man was strangled during the clash.
