Toyota is all set to bring a compact SUV to the Indian market and the company announced that it will be a joint effort with Suzuki. We have already seen spy shots of Toyota’s new compact SUV that will make its India debut on July 1, but now the company has teased the car for the first time. To be called the Hyryder (Toyota hasn’t confirmed the name yet), the compact SUV is what you’d expect to look like an SUV with a high ride. In the teaser image, we only get to see the front of the car and this gives us a clear picture of the design

The Hyryder follows the split headlamp design that has become common in many SUVs today. The LED daytime running lamps extend above the grille towards the central Toyota logo along with a thick chrome bar. The main headlamp unit sits down on the front bumper of a prominent central air dam with a faux skid plate element at the base of the bumper. The image also suggests that a dual-tone paint finish will be available, but we’ll know more about it the day it is revealed.

The new compact SUV will be built at Toyota’s facility in Bengaluru and the Suzuki iteration of the car will be launched soon after Toyota launches its car. We expect it to get a 1.5-litre petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology but Toyota might surprise us with a stronger hybrid model as well.
