The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on July 14 that India’s trade deficit widened to $26.1 billion in June 2022, from $9.6 billion in June 2021.

According to data released by the government, India’s exports grew 23.5 per cent to $40.13 billion in June, imports grew 57.5 per cent to $66.31 billion in June. This resulted in a trade deficit of $26.1 billion, which could pose a new headache for the Commerce Department.

India’s monthly trade deficit has been increasing for the past few months. It rose from $20.4 billion in April to $23.3 billion in May.
