Transgender People and Utilities

YouSinging in a public toilet is a basic right of a person. India is a country where all people have equal rights, not just men and women. Despite the fact that everyone has the right to equality, some people have been denied it. For example, transgender people face difficulties in using public facilities.

There were two lines of men and women in front of the toilet at a bus stop. Apart from women, a transgender also joined his line. There was an uproar, and the women looked at each other, grumbling. That person was the subject of conversation. The women suddenly started leaving one by one. After a few minutes, only the transgender person remained in line. But the ticket taker said, “This line is for women, not for anyone like you.” The man then went to a nearby ditch for a biological emergency. There were obscene comments and screams from all sides. Some even called it shameful conduct.

Still, when we think about it, the women who walked away were shameful, like the ticket taker throwing away money and refusing to use the restroom.

Being a transgender person is not easy, and the struggles they face in life are no different from any other. When people learn that their sexuality is not male or female, they experience depression, and even develop suicidal thoughts.

If they’ve made it this far, they’ll face the next challenge: getting their parents to accept them. When their parents refuse to accept them, many of them become orphans. They scavenge for food in the slums. They are not given any work. As a result, they embrace whatever comes their way. Their life is difficult, and yet we make it even more difficult for them with our actions.

We judge their circumstances and treat them as second-class citizens. Even the educated, who should set an example, are also unaware of the plight of the transgender community.

Despite the fact that seats are available in colleges and workplaces, transgender people do not occupy them because they are discriminated against. It can be changed only if people have the language of humanity in their hearts. Being human does not mean that you must be born a man or a woman; Rather, it implies that you have a tendency to accept all living things. Labeling public toilets for men, women and transgender people is a better strategy.
