Trekker’s body recovered from crevasses in Himachal Pradesh after a week. Dehradun News – Times of India

DEHRADUN: The body of a 42-year-old trekker from West Bengal, who fell into a ditch while trekking on September 2 at Khimloga Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Dhauladhar range, was recovered by a joint team of Army and 2nd Battalion of India. -Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Saturday.
ITBP spokesperson Vivek Pandey said, “The body of trekker Sujoy Dule has been recovered by our team and is being taken to Chitkul for further formalities.”
The three trekkers, identified as Sujoy Dule, Narottam Gyan and Subroto Biswas, started their trek from Uttarkashi district on August 28 along with six local porters.
They met with an accident on 2 September, when Sujoy and Subroto were removing a safety rope from a cliff. Sujoy fell into a crack and died on the spot, while Subroto slipped on the ice and suffered minor injuries. He was later rescued by a team of ITBP.
The trio reportedly went without permission for the trek – which is known as one of the toughest in the country. The state forest department has registered a case against him under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Following the incident, the Kinnaur district administration in Himachal Pradesh banned all trekking and mountaineering activities on the trek route originating from Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand and leading to Chitkul in Himachal’s Kinnaur region.
