Tributes to Sri Aurobindo on his 150th birth anniversary

Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville, Sri Aurobindo’s 150. center of th Paying tributes to the poet-philosopher on Monday to mark the culmination of the year-long celebrations, the birth anniversary celebrations. The Aurovilians lit a banquet at dawn in the amphitheater by the Matrimandir Aglo with the light of lamps, a group of them arranged in the pattern of the Mother’s icon. The mother’s organ music was recorded and chanted of the Gayatri Mantra, which was modified by Sri Aurobindo while listening to her music, and poetry was recited by the children. At the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, which has also hosted various lectures and exhibitions over the years, the special day began and ended with meditation. There was a long queue of devotees throughout the day at the Samadhi. This was also one of the few days when Sri Aurobindo’s room was kept open for the devotees to visit. In the evening, students and members of Ashram Vidyalaya participated in the march past in front of the “Spiritual Map of India” in the playground. For the past year, the Sri Aurobindo Society and Auroville have been hosting a series of lectures that focus on the many dimensions of Sri Aurobindo’s contribution as a poet, revolutionary and spiritual seer. One of the important themes was Sri Aurobindo’s Five Dreams from his Independence Day Message for India and the World.
