West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday greeted Trinamool Congress workers on the party’s 25th foundation day, saying the party will “continue to strengthen the federal structure of our great country”.

“Our journey began on January 1, 1998; During all these years, we have always remained committed to putting the nation first, people first. Today we remember the many sacrifices and tireless efforts of each and every member of our Trinamool family,” Ms Banerjee, who is also the party president, said in a Facebook post.

“All those who have supported us from the beginning and our new members who have joined from different states, we will continue to strengthen the federal structure of our great country; We rededicate ourselves to the service of the people and recommit ourselves to ensuring their welfare.”

The Trinamool Congress was founded in 1998, when Ms. Banerjee and other leaders broke away from the Congress party. The party formed the government in West Bengal in 2011 by defeating the 34-year-old Left Front government and has been in power ever since. The party will hold its silver jubilee celebrations at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata on Monday.

About Mamata Banerjee’s long struggle in different corners of the country. “Though we lost the elections in Goa, we managed to get eight per cent votes in three months,” he said.

On the issue of the Necessity scam, Mr. Banerjee said a “media spectacle” was being made about the scam, while the state government was trying to provide jobs to all protestors.
