Tripura Election Manifesto: Trinamool promises 2 lakh jobs in 5 years

With a key promise of providing two lakh jobs in five years, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday released the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming Tripura Assembly polls, a fortnight ahead of the polls.

The party had promised 50,000 jobs in the first year itself.

The TMC said that all existing government vacancies would be filled and startup incubators would be set up in eight districts of the state.

According to its manifesto, the party, if voted to power, will give Rs 1,000 per month to one lakh unemployed youth, including 10,323 school teachers who lost their jobs due to faulty recruitment in 2017.

Besides this, the party’s key promises include an additional secretariat in North Tripura to manage the affairs of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Rs 10,000 annual assistance to farmers, 2,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and implementation Are included. Many schemes already running in West Bengal.

The TMC in its 42-point manifesto has promised collateral-free loans with low interest rates under the student credit card scheme.

The party has also promised an annual scholarship of Rs 1,000 to students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities between classes four and eight, a skills university and free tablets for students in public colleges.

Tripura assembly elections are to be held on February 16.

The party released its manifesto in the presence of TMC Tripura in-charge Rajib Banerjee; State TMC president Piyush Kanti Biswas and party MP Sushmita Dev.

The document details the party’s vision for the people of Tripura for 2023-28.

Trinamool Congress minister from West Bengal Shashi Panja expressed confidence of winning the elections here.

“TMC’s third victory in West Bengal in 2021 proves that under the Mamata Banerjee government, good work is being done for the welfare of the people. We believe in inclusive development and good governance in Tripura as well as West Bengal want.” Ms Panja said while talking to ANI.

He further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party, currently ruling the state, is on the “back foot”.

“The BJP is on the back foot. Changing the CM a year before the elections shows their confidence. The people of the state have not benefited from the double engine government,” he said.

The TMC is in full mood to spread its influence beyond West Bengal and is looking to give a tough fight to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura and is contesting the elections in the face of Mamata Banerjee.

“It has been decided that Tripura elections will be held keeping Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in front,” party leader Rajib Banerjee, the state in-charge of Tripura, told ANI. He said that there is no alternative to Mamata Banerjee in Bengal. And the party is preparing to contest the elections in Tripura on the same lines.

On the other hand, the BJP is also gearing up for the elections, with Chief Minister Manik Saha campaigning door-to-door this morning.

Mr. Saha campaigned door-to-door in Golbasti and Masterpara (Geeta Mandir) in Agartala on Sunday ahead of the February 16 Tripura Assembly elections.

The minister toured the area and met the local people and urged them to vote in the elections.

Speaking to ANI, the Chief Minister said, “We have got an amazing response from the public. The way people supported us in 2018, I am sure the people’s support has increased from many levels.”

Saha said, “I really believe that this time we can win a record number of seats in the Tripura elections. The main reason for this is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His work has reached even the last person of this country.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader stressed on various schemes and work of the central government, saying, “Whether it is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Nal Se Jal Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana or electricity, our Prime Minister The minister has resolved every issue.In our state also we have worked with the same passion and dedication.

“The double engine government has worked and implemented a lot of schemes. We have reached 100 per cent saturation point with schemes in the state. That’s why the people of the state support us,” he said.
