Tripura: Left Front manifesto promises free electricity, more tribal autonomy

The Left Front released its manifesto for the assembly elections in Tripura.

The election manifesto released by Left Front commissioner Narayan Kar, CPM state secretary Jitendra Chowdhary and other Left leaders also promised maximum possible autonomy to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.

Jitendra Chowdhary said that the BJP government at the Center has the documents of the 125th amendment in the constitution, but big people are working for the welfare of the tribals. The amendment provides for the administration of tribal areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram to safeguard the rights of tribal population and their socio-economic development.

The manifesto also promises to provide jobs to at least 2.5 lakh people in government, semi-government and private sectors in the next five years. It also promises to provide up to 50 units of free electricity per household, attach land to the landless and stop privatization of government education.

The other 81 promises in the manifesto include efforts to ensure 200 days of work under MGNREGA, struggle against MGNREGA, apart from restoration of democratic, religious, political rights and normal law and order destroyed by the BJP government.
