There is excitement on the ground in Tripura as few hours are left for the counting of votes to begin. BJP is confident of victory, but opposition is sure that change will win

A day before the counting of votes, the mood on the ground in Tripura is about who will come out on top, though all exit polls have predicted a decisive victory for the BJP. Despite this, the opposition is confident that change will prevail.

The markets are already selling colors and crackers and Holi is a week away. Political parties are buying their party colors but Biru Burman, a shopkeeper, said that red color was in high demand.

“Both the camps are buying the color but people are buying more red color from my shop. Let’s see which color comes to power,” he said.

Special Puja at BJP Election Office

There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in all the camps. The BJP has converted a part of its war room into a result corner. Sources said the party has organized a special puja at the election office on Thursday morning. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is confident of the saffron party’s victory. “You have seen the exit polls, which have predicted that we (BJP) will form the government; We will get more seats this time and we are confident.

Change will come, say Left-Congress

Frequent meetings in both the CPI(M) and Congress camps. Party leaders sat with polling agents. Chief Ministerial candidate Jitendra Chowdhary told News18, “We are confident that there will be a change, you will see the numbers tomorrow.”

Senior Congress leader Sudip Roy Burman was also holding meetings continuously. He contested from Agartala, from where he is a six-time MLA.

Anti-poaching plans in Tipra Motha

Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma also met all the tribal leaders and party functionaries at his residence. According to sources, if by chance his party becomes a factor, he has his own plan to stop poaching.

Here is the list of star constituencies in Tripura:

Town Bordovali: Manik Saha is the candidate from this seat of Agartala. He won the bypoll last year by 6,000 votes and became the CM.

Agartala: Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman has been winning this seat for the last six terms.

Dhanpur: Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik is the candidate from this seat. This seat belongs to the longest serving Chief Minister of the state, Manik Sarkar. But he did not contest the election this time. Bhowmik was defeated by the government in the 2018 assembly elections.

Kailashahar: State Congress President Birjit Sinha has won from this seat twice. His opponent this time is BJP’s Muffsal Ali, who defeated Sinha last time as a CPI(M) candidate. But when the CPI(M) allowed Sinha to contest from the seat this time, Ali quit and joined the BJP.

Banmalipur: State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya is the candidate from this seat.
