Triumph Motorcycles India will launch Tiger 1200 On May 24, 2022. The British motorcycle maker’s flagship ADV is all set to enter the Indian market and will compete with Ducati Multistrada V4 And BMW R 1250 GS in parts. The new Tiger 1200 looks promising, has seen a comprehensive upgrade over its predecessor and will come in GT and Rally versions that will appeal to those looking for a proper off-road machine or mile-manager. So, what should the new Tiger 1200 cost? Here’s what we think.

The prices of the Triumph Tiger 1200 are expected to be competitive as compared to the rivals, especially with Triumph offering more variants to play with. The new Tiger 1200 range is expected to start from a little over ₹19 Lakh for the GT Pro variant, which can go up to ₹21.80 Lakh for the top-spec Rally Explorer Edition. This will help the model undercut the Ducati Multistrada V4 which starts at ₹19.75 Lakh, which goes up to ₹24.15 Lakh for the V4S. Meanwhile, the BMW R 1250 GS commands a premium and is priced at ₹ 20.55 lakh, while the R 1250 GS Adventure is priced at ₹ 22.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, India.

Prices of the new Triumph Tiger 1200 are likely to start at Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

A starting price of ₹ 19 Lakh+ will also help differentiate the model to a great extent on the Tiger 900 range, which is priced between ₹ 13.70 Lakh for the GT and ₹ 15.50 Lakh for the Rally Pro. All prices are ex-showroom India. Triumph India will be offering a range of accessories on the new Tiger 1200 range and this will further increase the final price.

There is a lot new in the new generation Triumph Tiger 1200. This includes a new and slightly lighter frame with a bolt-on aluminum subframe. The bike also gets a number of lighter components including a single sided swingarm and aluminum fuel tank which makes the motorcycle about 25 kg lighter than its predecessor. In terms of equipment, the Tiger 1200 GT gets 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels, while the suspension gets less travel. Meanwhile, the Tiger 1200 Rally variants are off-road capable and come with a long travel suspension setup with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with cross-spoke design. The GT and Rally Explorer variants get a larger 30-litre fuel tank as opposed to the 20-litre unit on the Pro trims.

The new 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 comes with an IMU, traction control system, ABS, six riding modes and an electronic suspension system.

Power comes from a heavily updated 1,160 cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is tuned for 148 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. A shaft drive system sends power to the rear wheel. Suspension setup includes Showa USD forks along with a semi-active unit on the off-road versions for more control. Braking performance comes from dual 320mm discs mated to front-spec Brembo Stilma calipers and a 282mm single rotor at the rear.
