Triumph Tiger has recently become one of the most celebrated names in the adventure touring motorcycle segment in India. The British motorcycle manufacturer recently introduced the smallest Tiger in the country, the Tiger Sport 660 and now the MY2022 variant of its biggest Tiger has been launched in India for Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 The most powerful with features remains the Tiger and competes with the likes of BMW R 1250 GS and Ducati Multistrada V4.
The new generation Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1196 cc, T-plane engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. This triple-cylinder engine produces 148 Bhp of peak power and 130 Nm of peak torque.
The overall look of the Tiger 1200 is similar to that of the older version, except that the face has been redesigned and the shape and size of the fuel tank are also slightly different. It now gets a single pod headlamp with an LED DRL strip. The instrument console has been upgraded to a 7.0-inch color TFT screen with the ability to pair with a smartphone. The motorcycle now also boasts of a new blind spot radar system as before. Also, the keyless system includes ignition, steering lock and fuel filler cap.
The motorcycle has been launched in four variants – GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer. While the GT variants are road-biased, the rally ones are more fit for the off-road. The Explorer variant also gets a larger 30-litre fuel tank.

The weight of the Tiger 1200 varies depending on the variant, as does the fuel tank size and other minor changes. The GT Pro variant weighs 245 kg, Rally Pro weighs 249 kg, GT Explorer weighs 255 kg and Rally Explorer weighs 261 kg.
The four variants of the new Tiger 1200 fall under two main categories – Pro and Explorer. The Pro units come with a 20-litre fuel tank and the Explorer one gets a bigger 30-litre tank.
Braking hardware includes Brembo Stilma equipment – ​​two 320 mm floating discs with monoblock radial callipers and one 282 mm disc and a single-piston caliper at the rear. Both the Rally and GT bikes get 41 mm Showa USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. The suspension offers semi-active damping and is adjustable for rear preload. The rally bike gets 220 mm of longer travel as compared to the GT’s 200 mm.
While the GT model gets alloy wheels, the rally ones come with spoke wheels for off-road purposes. The rear tire of both the bikes is 150/70 R18. The road-going GT gets 120/70 R19 at the front, while the rally bikes get the bigger but slimmer 90/90 21-inch rubber.
