Confusion prevailed in the Trinamool Congress after the party on Friday released its candidature list for 108 Kolkata municipalities, where polling is to be held on February 27. According to party general secretary Partha Chatterjee, there are no MLAs and members of the families involved in the party. Got a ticket this time. This could be because of the ‘one man, one post’ policy set by the TMC earlier.

The list was released by Chatterjee, Vice President Subrata Bakshi, ministers Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas and Chandrima Bhattacharya at a press conference.

The policy of ‘one man, one post’ was mainly promoted by Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary and nephew of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee. Its aim was to have more efficient administration by the members of the party.

After the announcement of the list, there were reports of protests from different districts and according to sources, some leaders were not informed about uploading the list.

Chatterjee said the present list was not correct as it did not have the required signatures, adding that usually the task of uploading the list is entrusted to the IPAC. He said it was not clear who uploaded the list.

The leader said that the correct lists have been sent to the district heads. Meanwhile, sources told CNN-News18 that an inquiry will be launched into the matter, which raises questions on possible miscommunication between TMC and IPAC.
