TRS is ₹1,000 crore unit

TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has said that the party was now a Rs 1,000 crore unit which is enough for him to jump into national politics.

The cash component of the total asset base of TRS is ₹861 crore, which includes money received from fixed deposits of ₹451 crore and electoral bonds that were pledged with SBI and Bank of Baroda. The party received monthly interest of ₹3.84 crore, which is ₹24 crore deposited in a current account, Mr. Rao said in his closing remarks to the TRS plenary session.

With 60 lakh members, Mr Rao said the party can raise another Rs 600 crore from donations, even if each member contributes only Rs 1,000 on his call.

Therefore, he said that TRS has enough resources to focus on national politics as a responsible party in the federal system. The campaign will soon begin with a conference in Hyderabad which will be attended by economists and intellectuals from across the world and around 2,000 retired All India Services officers from the IAS, IPS and IFS. This conference will set a political agenda for the country.

The conference will discuss the structural changes in the politics and policy framework required for the country. After all, it was policy making and implementation that was the root cause of the failures of the Indian political system. China overtook India because its policies were different. Otherwise both the countries were equal in GDP three decades ago. The GDP of China is $16 trillion while that of India is only $3 trillion.

Mr Rao said the TRS would organize training camps for its workers to create awareness among the public about the misdeeds of the BJP-led central government and its policy of spreading religious hatred. He warned that the days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dirty tricks are over.

No one is happy in the country. People want change at the centre. In the state, TRS will win 90 assembly seats with a comfortable majority. This is the result of the surveys conducted by them.

He criticized Mr Modi for asking state governments to reduce taxes in Tuesday’s video conference with chief ministers to deal with the fresh menace of COVID cases. Why should the Center ask the states to reduce taxes when it has raised prices by imposing cess on petrol and diesel?

Mr. Modi triggered a toxic trend by warning that Hindutva was in danger. How is Hinduism in danger, Mr. Rao asked.
