TVS Motor Company introduced an all-new 125cc motorcycle that claims to offer the best of both worlds; Sporty performance and frugal running costs. NS TVS Raider, as it is said, marks the return of TVS Motor Company to the 125 cc motorcycle segment. The all-new TVS Raider, based on an all-new ground up platform, will be sold in the domestic markets but will also be an important product for TVS Motor Company’s exports, especially in the Southeast Asia and Latin American markets.

design
TVS Raider is a good looking motorcycle. And considering the segment it sits in, it is probably one of the more stylish, premium and sporty looking products in its class. The new headlight with noticeable LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) remains the highlight; A bit over-the-top, but definitely worth noting.

The overall design with a sculpted fuel tank along with sharp creases adds muscle to the design, and looks more in line with the styling of 150cc motorcycles as compared to the 125. An LED taillight completes the design with a more toned down tail section. It is a beautiful looking bike, and definitely looks upmarket. The Raider is available in four color options, Fairy Yellow, Striking Red, Blazing Blue and Wicked Black.
engine and performance
The Raider is powered by an all-new 124.8 cc, air- and oil-cooled, three-valve engine that produces 11.2 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The 0 to 60 kmph speed is claimed in 5.9 seconds.
Tech and Ergonomics
The bike also gets two riding modes, Eco and Power, with the power mode said to deliver 10 percent more power at the top-end. The instrument console is a negative LCD screen with a long list of read-outs, including three trip meters, distance to empty indicator, integrated starter generator indicator and average speed recorder. The bike also gets a side-stand cut-off switch as a safety feature. Bluetooth connectivity with TVS SmartXonnect system is provided on the top-spec variant, which will get a TFT screen.
The TVS Raider enjoys a fairly straight riding posture, but the footpegs are slightly at the rear, offering a sporty yet comfortable riding position. The split seat design provides a wide surface area, and looks great, while providing good comfort for both the rider and the pillion. The wide handlebar provides good leverage in handling along with comfort.
Bicycle parts and suspension
The Raider rides on 17-inch cast alloy wheels with tubeless tires with telescopic front forks and a 5-step preload adjustable gas-charged rear monoshock. Braking is preferred by either 130 mm front drum, or 240 mm front disc, with 130 mm rear drum, with synchronized braking technology, which is basically a combined braking system in which both brakes are activated with the press of either the rear pedal. or front brake lever.

Currently, TVS Raider is available for ₹ 77,500 (ex-showroom) for the drum brake variant and goes up to ₹ 85,469 (ex-showroom) for the disc brake variant. The top-spec Raider with TFT instrument console with SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity is yet to be offered, but will cost even more, possibly around ₹90,000 (ex-showroom).
