Twitter staff to meet new board member Elon Musk – Times of India

NEW YORK: Twitter plans to hold a meeting for employees related to Tesla’s chief executive Elon Muskimpact on the company’s board, a Twitter spokesperson said on Friday.
The Twitter official did not disclose the time frame or format of the meeting.
After the outspoken and polarizing executive revealed that he has acquired more than nine percent stake in the company, making him Twitter’s largest shareholder, the social media company named Musk to the board on Tuesday.
Announcing the appointment, Twitter chief executive Parag Agarwal said he was “excited” to name Musk, calling him “a passionate believer and intense critic of the service” we really need.
Musk said he looks forward to making “significant improvements to Twitter” soon.
The Tesla chief got his followers to vote on whether to add an “edit” button to the service, a long-discussed tweak.
But Musk is a breakaway figure in American business. On Thursday, he tweeted a photo of himself smoking marijuana on the Joe Rogan podcast in 2018, with the caption, “Lights up on Twitter’s next board meeting.”
His actions have often raised eyebrows and sometimes even condemnation, when Jewish groups blew up his tweet comparing Canadian leader Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler on the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Musk later deleted the tweet without apologizing.
According to a report in The Washington Post, the appointment has caused misunderstandings among some employees.
According to statements on Slack reviewed by the Post, activists at the California-based social media company cited concerns about Musk’s statements on transgender issues and his reputation as a tough and motivated leader.
His arrival has excited some Wall Street analysts, who are dismayed by Twitter’s difficulty in monetizing its business meaningfully.
But skeptics have pointed out that Musk has bullied critics in the investment community and fired or punished workers who have spoken out or tried to unionize.
A California agency has sued Tesla, alleging discrimination and harassment against black workers. The electric car maker has rubbished the allegations, saying it opposes discrimination.
