Two passersby died after being hit by a car

Two migrant workers were killed when a car rammed into them near the Changadakkadavu bridge in Manantavadi on Friday night. Police have identified the deceased as 37-year-old Durga Prasad and 30-year-old Tulsi Ram, both residents of Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the incident happened around 9.30 pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit Prasad and Ram, who were walking with a friend on the road.

Though Prasad was taken to the Government Medical College Hospital in Manthavady, he succumbed to his injuries. Due to the impact of the collision, Ram fell into the Manantavadi river and the body was recovered by the fire and rescue service personnel.

The police have registered a case under section 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code against Vettikkal’s execution near Mananthavadi, the car driver.
