Two sentenced to 10 years in Madurai for possessing ganja

The special court for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cases in Madurai on Friday sentenced two persons to 10 years imprisonment for possession of ganja.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each on both.

According to the police, in 2013 the autorickshaw in which they were traveling was stopped near New Jail Road, when the accused persons, K. Sivanammal, 50 of Usilampatti, M. Andisamy and R. Raju was found to be in possession of 25 kg of Ganja.

While Sivanammal and Pandi were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, Andisamy died during the pendency of the trial.
