UGC NET 2022 Geography Preparation Tips, What to Study and Leave

It is clear that qualifying for JRF and UGC NET is essential in the current academic scenario as this certificate gives you many benefits in your academic career. University Grants Commission (UGC) NET The joint efforts of 2022 December 2021 and June 2022 will be held between 20 and 30 September.

After qualifying JRF, research scholars are allotted an attractive monthly fellowship amount. Today NET and JRF is the minimum eligibility criteria to apply for any teaching post in government or private higher education institutions. Your teaching career starts after you qualify for NET/JRF, which gives you a promising career in any educational institution ranging from 35K salary to your negotiating potential.

UGC NET Geography Exam Pattern, Syllabus

This Paper 1 consists of a total of 50 questions of 2 marks each including the final qualifying marks. The final merit is prepared from 150 questions out of which 50 questions are from Paper-I and 100 questions from Paper-II. Hence Paper-1 plays a very important role in your final merit list for NET/JRF. The number of questions in each test is not always the same from each unit of the syllabus. Generally, unit questions can vary from 7 to 12.

There are total 10 units in the syllabus of Geography.

Unit 1: Geomorphology, endogenous and exogenous forces, plate tectonics, principles and processes of slope development, occurrence of landforms and causes of geomorphological hazards

unit 2: Climatology: Composition and Composition of the Atmosphere
Insolation, Earth’s heat budget, Temperature, pressure and winds, Atmospheric circulation, Köppen and Thornthwaite’s climate classification, ENSO events

Unit 3: Oceanographic relief of oceans, Composition: temperature, density and salinity, Circulation: hot and cold currents, waves, tides, sea-level changes, Hazards: tsunamis and cyclones

unit 4: Geography of Environmental Components: Ecosystem (Geographical Classification) and Human Ecology, Functions: Trophic Levels, Energy Flows, Cycles, Environmental Ethics, and Deep Ecology, Environmental Threats and Disasters, National Programs and Policies

unit 5: Population and settlement geography World Population Distribution, Population Policies in Developed and Developing Countries, Rural Settlements, Urban System

unit 6: Geography of Economic Activity and Regional Development Economic Geography, Geography of Transport and Trade, Regional Development, Agricultural Geography

Unit 7: Cultural, Social and Political Geography Cultural Convergence, Environment and Human Health, Disease Ecology, Trends and Developments in Political Geography, Geography of Federalism

Unit 8: Geographical Thought Contributions of Indian, Greek, Arab, Chinese and Roman Scholars, Influence of Darwinian Theory on Geographical Thought, Contemporary Trends in Indian Geography, Paradigm Shifts, Perspectives in Geography
