UIDAI ready to explore solution on ‘Partial Authentication’: CEO | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Unique Identification Authority of India ,UIDAI) is ready to look at solutions that can enable ‘partial authentication’ when needed, and is keen to receive feedback from the industry about the demand for such solutions, its CEO said. Saurabh Garg said on Tuesday.
Also exploring possibilities of using Aadhaar issuing institution blockchain and quantum computing, as it ‘moves towards’Base 2.0′ vision.
“We are also open to what is called partial authentication. Some people just want to verify the age, they are looking for nothing more than that.
“These are things that we want to get feedback from the industry as well… what kind of demand is there, and we can build accordingly… Maybe that’s the age you want to verify,” Garg said.
he was speaking in India Digital Summit 2022Organized by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
Citing another example of the need for ‘partial authentication’, Garg said verification may be required only to confirm that a person is a resident of a particular area and not the full address.
“Someone just wants to verify if that person is living in that area and they don’t want to know, but they just want a confirmation whether that person is a resident of that area… have developed the solution yet, but to see. Will be open for,” Garg said.
Garg further said that more than five crore Aadhaar Authentication are happening every day and more than 40 crore banking transactions are being done every month through Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AEPS).
Talking about Aadhaar 2.0, he said that it will ensure rapid automated biometric matching solutions, with a primary focus on protecting the ecosystem. He added that the authority is exploring possibilities of leveraging blockchain and quantum computing.
“We are looking at what blockchain has to offer, and whether blockchain can be used in any way to create decentralized level solutions… it is for something in the future but it is on our horizon .
“In quantum computing, we need to see if there are quantum flexible security solutions,” he said.
Aspects related to security are “paramount”, he said, adding that UIDAI is continuously working to improve information security and Cyber security,
Services like ‘eSign’ and ‘e-Sign’digital lockerThey offer tremendous opportunities for start-ups.
