UK parents named their newborn baby Pakora; internet feedback

Indian food has a wide variety to offer. There are many dishes that a person can taste. And in this never-ending variety of Indian cuisine, we all have one particular dish that we absolutely love. However, no matter how much you love Indian food, would you ever name your baby after a dish!? Seems like a bit much, doesn’t it? Well, believe it or not, recently, a UK couple created a lot of interest from social media users after they named their baby boy Pakora. The Captain’s Table, a Newtownbay restaurant in Ireland, posted the information on Facebook. The restaurant also shared a receipt for an order placed by a UK couple along with a picture of a newborn baby born on August 24. The newborn’s mother named her daughter “Pakora” as it is one of her favorite foods in the restaurant.

In a Facebook post created by the restaurant, he wrote, “Now that’s the first time! Welcome to the world Pakora, we can’t wait to meet you.” In the post you can even see a picture of the baby with the receipt from the restaurant! See post here:

Since he posted this, it has been shared 1.9K times and garnered 1.2K likes and thousands of comments. Many people were shocked by this. One person wrote, “I wish we could eat your food in the USA! Chicken pakora sandwich, yum! And that baby is cute. Congratulations!” Another user wrote, ‘The next kid is being called a burrito. Many other users also jokingly started naming their children after food. One person wrote, “My parents named me Scrambled Eggs, my brother’s Jalapeno Popper – I don’t understand why his name is so weird to all of you.” Another user wrote, “My mother named me Quesadilla. I legally had to change my name after turning 18.” Somebody said, “I am going to name my next two kids Onion and Bhaji.”

Later, when the Post began to gain a lot of traction, restaurant owner Hilary Braniff revealed that she had created the story to “bring a little excitement to the industry”. According to Belfast Live, she said that she just wanted to share a post and brighten people’s day.
