UK top court rejects Assange’s appeal for extradition to US – Times of India

Britain’s top court refused on Monday WikiLeaks founded by Julian Assange Permission to appeal against the decision to extradite him to the US to face espionage charges, The court said it refused because the case “did not raise a reasonable point of law”.
Assange has sought years to avoid trial in the US over a series of allegations related to the publication of a vast collection of classified documents by WikiLeaks more than a decade ago. In December, the High Court in London overturned a lower court’s decision that he should not be extradited. Monday’s news narrows Assange’s options, but his defense team may still seek to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights.
