Kiev: Ukraine Another record for daily coronavirus deaths was hit on Tuesday amid a spike in infections due to the public’s reluctance to get a vaccine.
The health ministry reported 833 coronavirus deaths on the previous day, surpassing the previous high of 793 over the weekend and taking the country’s total confirmed Covid-19 deaths to 73,390. The nation of 41 million people also recorded 18,988 new daily infections in the last day.
Although there are four vaccines available at Ukraine Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Sinovac only 18% of the population has been fully vaccinated. This is the second lowest rate in Europe Armenia,
In an effort to accelerate the pace of the vaccine, officials were requiring teachers, government employees and other employees to fully vaccinate or suspend their pay by November 8.
On Tuesday, the government ordered the employees of state-controlled companies, including railways and postal services, as well as social workers to get vaccinated by December 1.
Ukrainian authorities have also begun requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result for people aboard planes, trains and long-distance buses.
New government regulations and sanctions have given rise to a rapidly growing black market for fake vaccine documents. Fake vaccination certificates are selling for as little as $100-300, and there have been reports of a fake version of a government digital app with fake certificates already installed.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky On Tuesday, Ukraine’s police had set up 1,400 mobile units to track down fake vaccine documents.
