Ultimate Kho Kho announces plans for the first season

New Delhi Sports league Ultimate Kho Kho has announced its plans for the first season. As part of the opening day of Ultimate Kho Kho Season 1, Mumbai players and Gujarat Giants will play each other, followed by Chennai Quick Guns taking on Telugu Warriors on August 14.

Promoted by Dabur India Chairman Amit Burman in association with Kho Kho Federation of India, the league will have its first season with six teams playing at the Badminton Hall of Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune.

Franchise CEO Tenzing Niyogi said, “We look forward to an exciting season of Kho-Kho with a balanced team on all sides. There are going to be 22 days of Kho-Kho. We aim to reach millions of fans across the country by broadcasting the action in regional languages ​​apart from Hindi and English. Based on the overwhelming response we have received, we are confident that the audience will enjoy this format.”

On Independence Day, which will be the second day of the tournament, spectators can watch Rajasthan Warriors and Odisha Juggernauts begin their league journey taking on Mumbai players and Chennai Quick Guns respectively.

All teams will play each other twice during the 30-match league phase, which will continue until the end of the month, with the top teams progressing to the playoffs. Sony will telecast the league matches.

The year 2021 saw a revival compared to 2020 in sports sponsorship and media deals, following a lull in the aftermath of the pandemic. According to a report by GroupM ESP, the entertainment, esports and sports division of GroupM India, this helped India achieve a whopping $1 billion in 2020 with a growth of 62%.

It said the country’s performance in the Tokyo Olympics has been a morale booster for the budding sporting talent in the country and 2022 will bring new opportunities in multi-sport events.
