Speaking in the UK recently, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under “brutal attack”.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani on Wednesday addressed a press conference shortly before the commencement of Parliament proceedings. Coming down heavily on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s UK remark, he launched a fresh attack against the Congress leader and claimed that he tried to defame India on a foreign land.

“Every citizen of India demands an apology from India Rahul Gandhi For the Parliament of India which is the voice of the Indian people and their will. Gandhi is busy boasting about India on foreign land and has attacked not only the Parliament but also the Supreme Court Election Commission of India (ECI),” Irani said.

Irani demanded that the Wayanad MP apologize for her “undemocratic statement” against India. “Mr. Gandhi, democracy is not in danger, but the Congress party has been brought to political destruction by the people of India because of what you demonstrated against the country abroad.

“Is humiliating India a democracy? Is insulting the Speaker of the House a democracy? India demands an apology from Rahul Gandhi,” he further asked during the media address.

Irani also alleged that Gandhi’s remarks stemmed from his hatred towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He questioned the Congress leader’s claim that opposition leaders were not allowed to speak in universities.

“You said that you do not have the right to speak in any university in the country. If so, in 2016, when the slogan ‘Bharat tere tukde honge’ was raised in a university in Delhi, you supported it, what was that?”

“Rahul Gandhi invoked foreign powers by visiting a country which has a history of enslaving India. While flouting India’s democratic system, he expressed regret that why foreign forces do not come and attack India.

Speaking in the UK recently, Gandhi alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under “brutal assault” and that the BJP and the RSS have captured almost all institutions. He has often accused the Sangh of spreading hatred and creating divisions in the society.
