Lucknow: In a relief to lakhs of students seeking higher education in UP, the government has prepared a uniform examination fee structure for state universities. This move will eliminate the disparity in the examination fee structure for undergraduate courses.
The Higher Education Department, in an order issued on July 11, announced that all state universities will charge Rs 800 per semester as examination fee for 10 UG courses: BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, BEd, BJMC, BFA, BPEd , And BVOC,
Exam fee for six courses: LLB, BTech, B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), Law HonorsBSc Biotech and BLIB is fixed at Rs 1,000 per semester.
Similarly, the examination fee for Dentistry and Nursing courses, BAMS/ BUMS has been fixed at Rs 1,500 per semester. The same fee structure will be implemented from the current academic year.
The decision came after proposals from universities sought an increase in examination fee as per the semester system. national education policy,
Order of Special Secretary Higher Education Manoj Singh He said that with the introduction of semester system, universities will have to conduct examinations twice a year, which will double the expenditure on printing of question papers and answer sheets, evaluation, honorarium to examiners, flying squads and publication of results.
For universities, the biggest source of income is examination fees from students. Keeping this in view, the six-member committee, examining the proposals for fee hike, found variation in the examination fee charged by different state universities for various UG and PG courses.
“It is irrational to charge different amounts for the same head from students. Therefore, a uniform fee structure has been fixed,” read the order.
There are 19 universities in UP except medical. Before the semester system, the examination fee was charged annually and ranged between Rs 800-3,000. Now all the universities will charge the same exam fee for a course.
