On October 3 last year, eight people, including four farmers and a journalist, were killed in violence in Tikunia village here in protest against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Mishra’s village in Lakhimpur Kheri district.
Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra has been arrested as the main accused in this case.
“People keep raising questions. There are also ‘bekoof journalists’ (stupid journalists) who have no relation with journalism and want to create confusion with such ‘alti-sidhi baat’ (baseless things),” he said.

Led by Tikait, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) staged a 75-hour long sit-in in Lakhimpur last week over various demands, including the sacking of Mishra.
Mishra can be heard in the video telling BJP workers in his Kheri constituency, “He (Tikait) is doing politics like this and running his livelihood. He will be given a reply at the right time.”
Reacting to Mishra’s remarks, Tikait said it was natural for him to be angry when his son is in jail for the past one year.
The Union minister, known for making controversial statements, was also seen in the speech clarifying the various allegations leveled against him.
He said, “I have done nothing wrong in my life. I am fighting for what is right. I have not done even .01 percent wrong. Anyone can come forward and show it. Truth is never defeated.”
Mishra is a Lok Sabha MP from Kheri for the second time on a BJP ticket.
“No one in the world will be able to let you down. Rakesh Tikait Kitne Bhi Aa Jaane Jaye,” he is heard assuring his supporters to shout “Zindabad” slogans.
He said amidst slogans of supporters in his favor, “I have only this to say – ‘Don’t think of me as a river of fire, my mother is my compulsion.’
Responding to his request, Tikait alleged that a “goonda raj” has been started by Mishra in Lakhimpur and said that he would soon launch a “liberation campaign” to free the place from Mishra’s reign of terror. .
The BKU leader was heard saying in a video, “This time we stayed for three days, next time we will be there (Lakhimpur) for 13 days, to end the minister’s ‘gunda raj’.”
The farmer leader said that such threatening remarks by the Minister of State may affect the investigation into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
“The court and the police should do their job. He (Misra) will be thrown out of the district or the state so that the investigation into the incident is not affected,” he said.
