United: Rising Omicron cases disrupt air travel, 800 more flights canceled – Times of India

Flight cancellations were on top of more than 3,000 cancellations on Mondays during the Christmas holiday weekend, typically a peak time for Americans to travel.
With rising infections, airlines have been forced to cancel flights, requiring pilots and cabin crew to quarantine, while inclement weather in some areas added to the woes of passengers.
Delta, United, Southwest and American did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
cruise operator Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Carnival Corp were also down between 1.3% and 2.4%.
According to media reports, over the weekend, at least three cruise ships were forced to return to port after the detection of COVID-19 cases.
Travel firms Booking Holdings Inc., Airbnb Inc., Expedia Group Inc. and TripAdvisor Inc. were all down between 0.6% and 1.8%.
