AGRA: The burning body of a 20-year-old woman was found on the Agra-Jalesar road at 4 am on Wednesday by a team of policemen returning after patrolling the surrounding area.
The woman, the daughter of a UP Police constable, was allegedly murdered and set ablaze by her lover and her father.
The victim Khushboo was a B.Com second year student. Her father, Veerpal Singh is posted as Head Constable in Mathura. She had been missing since Monday.
The police immediately doused the fire and sent the half-burnt body for post-mortem. Police said the lower part of his body was “completely burnt”, while his face was scorched.
The girl had left for college at around 9.30 am on May 30, but did not return home as per her father’s missing complaint. itmadullah Police Station SDR.
SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh told that she had gone to meet her 22-year-old boyfriend Ashish. tomar at his home. He was also her former classmate. He said Ashish allegedly killed her allegedly “in anger”.
Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that Ashish was “forcing her to get married”. He said, “On May 30, there was a heated argument between the two and Ashish strangled her with a dupatta. He hid her body under his bed. Her parents were out of town when she committed the crime.”
“They returned the next day and noticed a foul smell at the house. They began searching their house and found the girl’s body under the bed. Ashish and his father decided to wrap the body in a cloth and dispose of it. They threw it on the side of the road. Then they put petrol on it and set it on fire,” the police said.
The girl’s shoe and her mobile phone were allegedly recovered from Tomar’s house, police said. Both the accused have been arrested.
SP Satyajit Gupta Told TOI that an FIR has been registered against Ashish under IPC section 302 (murder). Her father, who works in a factory, was booked for destruction of evidence. The accused lives in Khandoli area, which is about 12 km from the girl’s house. The post-mortem report is awaited.
