Mathura: Three-year-old girl went missing after being washed away in rain water Yamuna near the Dwarkadhish temple, police said on Sunday.
The girl named Shireen along with her two cousins ​​had gone out late on Saturday night to celebrate her birthday with her uncle Pawan Chaturvedi.
According to the police, the incident took place at 11 pm when they were all returning from a restaurant on a scooty, which fell after Chaturvedi lost his balance on the slightly inclined road which became slippery due to the ongoing rain. Was.
Two other children, aged 11 and 13, managed to wake up immediately, but Shireen was swept away by a strong current of rainwater into a nearby river, he said.
Mathura fire officer NK Singh said, “Despite several hours of efforts by the fire brigade team at midnight on Saturday and then on Sunday morning, his body could not be traced.”
He said a search operation was on by a team of divers and firefighters.
