LUCKNOW: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of UP Police on Friday surrounded a man identified as Mohammad. According to the official, a PDF document named ‘Explosive Course FIDE Force’ has been found in the mobile phone of the suspect. “Investigators are trying to find out what this document was. In addition, chats and voice messages of listed JeM operatives and members of Pakistan- and Afghanistan-based terror outfits were also found, some of which date back to 2018,” Kumar said.
ATS sources said that Nadeem used social media platforms like WireFacebook Messenger and Clubhouse will be in touch with persons across the border using 30 virtual numbers on Voice over Internet Protocol (VIOP) mode.
“Nadeem has also admitted that terrorists of JeM and other terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan and Pakistan were inviting him to Pakistan for advance physical training,” Kumar said. Nadeem had also planned to visit Pakistan on a valid visa and then to Egypt, Syria and Afghanistan.
ATS ADG Naveen Arora said the police have the names and details of Nadeem’s contacts in India. Suspicious contacts will be questioned and action will be taken against those found involved.
The ATS had arrested 24-year-old Sabauddin Azmi three days ago from Mubarakpur in Azamgarh for planning an IED blast on Independence Day. The ATS alleged that Azmi was in contact with a listed Islamic State recruiter and had subscribed to the organisation’s official Telegram channel.
