Pratapgarh: A BJP The leader here has reportedly been arrested blacksmith his signature I a s A senior police officer said on Tuesday that the officer was nephew and secured a loan of Rs 1.62 crore.
The accused, identified as Ravi Pratap Singh, was arrested on Monday evening, Superintendent of Police Satpal Antil said.
The case dates back to 2020 when IAS officer Abhay Singh lodged a complaint of cheating against his maternal uncle Ravi Pratap Singh.
Abhay Singh had alleged in his complaint that his uncle had taken a loan from Urban Co-operative Bank by forging his signature.
Antil said the signatures were found to be forged during the investigation.
He said that the accused has been sent to jail.
BJP’s Kashi regional unit member and senior party leader Girdhari Singh said Ravi Pratap Singh was an active party leader, but refused to comment on the matter.
