UP: BJP’s discussion on caste, regional equations Yogi cabinet, Shah in Lucknow tomorrow

After a massive victory in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in the process of making last-minute changes in the list of cabinet and council of ministers of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Senior party leaders said, this is being done on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi so that there is a right balance in the cabinet and council with proper representation to every section of the society.

Union Home Minister Amit ShahFormer Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, who has been made an observer for the state, will reach Lucknow on March 21 along with his co-supervisor.

Sources said that though the visit of observers is usually customary, things are different with Shah as an observer. A senior party leader said, “We expect a complete review of leaders and some changes to finalize the future cabinet and council in Uttar Pradesh.”

Meanwhile, the most talked about meeting was held in the state and the center. Yogi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in Gorakhpur. While Bhagwat is on a three-day stay, Yogi was present in Gorakhpur to celebrate Holi.

Swatantra Dev Singh: Most importantly in the state the president of the party was one of the most accessible leaders of the state. He is an MLC and sources close to top officials believe that Singh is likely to find a place in the new cabinet due to his close association with Yogi.

Brajesh Pathak: Law minister in the previous Yogi government and a Brahmin face of the party in UP, various sources have stamped his name as a potential minister.

Shrikant Sharma: Sources said Sharma is likely to make a place in the Yogi cabinet.

Kunwar Brijesh Singh: An MLA from Deoband seat, which is a difficult seat to contest with Yadavs and Muslims in large numbers, sources said, adding that Singh is likely to be rewarded for winning the seat.

Aditi Singh: Singh is a second generation politician who was the sitting Congress MLA from Rae Bareli Sadar seat, a seat represented for years by his late father Akhilesh Singh. She left the Congress before the 2022 assembly elections and joined the BJP. Singh defeated Ram Pratap Yadav of Samajwadi Party.

Asim Arun or Rajeshwar Singh: Sources said that IPS officer Aseem Arun, who won Kannauj, or Rajeshwar Singh, an Enforcement Directorate officer, are likely to be included in the cabinet. Singh had taken voluntary retirement for his first election. Sources said Singh is expected to be rewarded on the formation of the Council of Ministers.

Former ministers Satish Mahana, Ashutosh Tandon, Jitin Prasad and Suresh Khanna are believed to be the last ministers. Sources claimed that baby Rani Maurya, who is an SC, is likely to get a respectable post.

The names under consideration are Brajesh Pathak, Shri Kant Sharma, Baby Rani Maurya, Dinesh Shama and Keshav Prasad Maurya.

“If there is no consensus, there is a proposal to repeat the two deputy CMs, as there is discussion on repeating Keshav Prasad Maurya. Another discussion is of a Brahmin Deputy CM and both Pathak and Sharma are contenders. Baby Rani Maurya was the governor and is set to get a senior position. Dinesh Sharma was offered the post of state president, but the deal could not be closed.”

Sources said that things will be finalized on Monday when Shah will be in Lucknow.
