A Dalit college student was allegedly beaten up by some people in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The police gave this information on Wednesday.

A group of students thrashed him because he had prevented them from garlanding the statue of ‘Bharat Mata’ wearing shoes a month earlier.

According to the complaint lodged with the police in this case, the victim, Arjun Rana, objected to a group garlanding the Bharat Mata statue wearing shoes a month ago and was thrashed on Monday for this.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar said, “Dalit student Arjun Rana was attacked by a group of students led by two students Shahbaz Yadav and Suryansh Thakur. The incident took place at PG Ground on Monday.”

A video of the incident is doing the rounds on social media since Tuesday.

“It is alleged in the police complaint that Shehbaz and Suryansh were furious after the incident and attacked Rana along with 20 others on Monday when they found him alone in the field,” the official said.

Rana was taken to the hospital where he was given first aid. He said that his condition is stable.

Uproar over Dalit youth’s entry into temple in Uttarkashi

Earlier, a case was registered against a Dalit man undergoing treatment after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of upper caste men for allegedly creating ruckus at a temple on January 23, police said on Monday. Was.

Mori police station SHO Mohan Kathait said the case was registered on the orders of the Purola judicial magistrate.

Kathait said Kumar has been booked under various sections of the IPC including 294 (defiling a place of worship), 298 (speaking words intended to hurt the religious feelings of a person) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) went.

According to the police, Ayush Kumar claimed that a group of upper caste people attacked him with burning sticks for entering a temple.

The complainant said that the temple committee had filed a complaint in the court accusing Kumar of creating ruckus in the temple by throwing idols and other sacred objects, which enraged the locals and they thrashed him.

Police said five people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting Kumar.

Meanwhile, the State Scheduled Caste Commission has sought a list of temples from the District Magistrates of all the 13 districts where Dalits are not allowed to enter.
