UP Election 2022: 2.28 crore voters will decide the fate of 623 candidates in western UP

2.28 crore eligible voters will exercise their franchise in 58 assembly constituencies of 11 districts of Western District Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Of the total voters, around 1.24 crore are males, 1.04 crore females and 1,448 are third gender.

He will decide the electoral fate of 623 candidates contesting in the first phase of the assembly elections.

Voting will be held in Shamli, Mathura, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr and Aligarh tomorrow.

Voting will start from 7 am on Thursday and will continue till 6 pm.

Documents required for voters

Those who have a valid ID card will be allowed to cast their vote. Voters are required to bring the EPIC to the polling station to establish their identity.

In case a voter is not able to bring his/her EPIC card, he/she has to present any of the 12 alternative photo ID cards which are – Service Identity Card with Photo for Employees of Central and State Governments – PSUs and Public Limited Companies, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, MGNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the schemes of Ministry of Labor, Passbook with photographs issued by Banks or Post Offices, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Pension with photo Documents, Official Identity Card for MPs, MLAs and MLCs.

Around 50,000 security personnel of paramilitary forces deployed

Around 50,000 paramilitary personnel belonging to 412 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed at various places to maintain law and order in western Uttar Pradesh as the campaigning for the first phase of assembly elections ends on Tuesday evening. .

Police have sealed the state’s borders and strict vigil is on to maintain peace in the 58 assembly constituencies where polling will be held tomorrow.

Security officials told ANI about the deployment of troops in sensitive areas, “Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh and Meerut will see maximum deployment. In Mathura alone, 75 paramilitary personnel have been deployed and the total force deployed in this constituency.” 21,000.” ,

Officials also informed that intense vigil is being maintained at the state borders of both Haryana and Rajasthan where police officers are listing car numbers. Amid tight security, polling officials and teams have started gathering at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee from 7 am on Wednesday to collect all the necessary election materials.

“There will be force movement throughout and polling will be held amidst tight security. Duty cards were allotted. Liquor shops have been closed for 48 hours and will open only after polling is over,” officials said.

Voting will be held for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.

The term of the existing Legislative Assemblies in Uttar Pradesh will end on March 14, 2022.
