UP Elections: Cross FIR lodged after SP, BJP alleging attack Lucknow News – Times of India

Kushinagar Superintendent of Police Sachindra Patel said that an FIR has been registered against both of them under various sections.

LUCKNOW/GORAKHPUR: After both the members of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused each other of assault at a rally in Vishupura Khanwa Patti village, Kushinagar police registered a cross FIR.
In the first FIR lodged on the complaint of SP District President Harilal Yadav, he has alleged that BJP candidate Surendra Singh Kushwaha and hundreds of BJP workers first stopped his convoy under criminal conspiracy and then beat us up. Bricks, hockey sticks and stones were also thrown. The FIR clearly mentions the name of BJP candidate Surendra Singh who is contesting from Fazilnagar and 17 other BJP members as well.
Meanwhile, in the same case BJP member Deepraj Kharwar had registered a cross FIR against BJP MP from Budaun Sanghamitra, who is also the daughter of Swami Prasad Maurya and Ashok Maurya for attacking 25 others with sticks and pelting stones.
Kushinagar Superintendent of Police Sachindra Patel said that both the FIRs have been registered on charges of rioting, rioting, armed with deadly weapon, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and dacoity, punishment for undue influence or participation in elections.
Kushinagar, District Magistrate, S Rajalingam said, “The incident took place when Swami Prasad Maurya was going towards Phulwaria market in a convoy of about 25 cars. Incidentally, a BJP procession was coming from the opposite direction. When the two processions came face to face, there was sloganeering and some stone pelting took place. We have some video clips of the incident and we are probing them.
“SP candidates could take only two cars with their vehicle while BJP had taken permission for the procession. The police will investigate the matter after receiving complaints from both the sides.
